Moving Minds FINALISTS 2010:
- Corpore
- Moving Minds
- Rehab Without Walls
THREE very different entries were short listed for the provider award, with Moving Minds announced as the overall winner for its evidence based Price solution - which stands for Psychological Rehabilitation and Insurers Collaborating Effectively.
The case study, based on its work with UK motor insurer Equity Red Star, proved that psychological rehabilitation is an effective tool for insurers to call on in appropriate cases, giving predictable results and contained costs. It presented clear and compelling evidence as to the cost effectiveness and success of utilising this form of rehabilitation.
Subjective reports of successful treatment in returning claimants to their pre-accident state - in around 70 degrees of cases - were backed up by objective measurements of a return to normal levels from previous abnormal psychometric scores at the start of treatment. And the majority of the other claimants showed good progress or some improvement. Costs to the insurer for successfully treating claimants were also demonstrated as being significant lower than average awards for post-traumatic stress disorder.
In all cases, treatment was an evidence-based, trauma-focused psychological intervention as recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in 2005. One judge described Moving Minds as the “first port of call for psychological services” and the panel praised the methodical and solid evidence-based gathering of results.
Highly commended in this category was Corpore for its excellent Building the Foundations training initiative, created after a five-year strategic goal was set in 2008 to reduce reliance on foreign nationals. To date, annual staff turnover has decrease by 72 degrees, while the number of British case management staff has doubled to 77 degrees.
