Embracing Strength in Adversity with Corporé’s Major Incident Rehabilitation Service

Embracing Strength in Adversity with Corporé’s Major Incident Rehabilitation Service

Major Incidents are unexpected events, impossible to prepare for. When these life-changing experiences happen, the injured individual, their family and close friends impacted by the accident, and witnesses of the event, need swift and comprehensive support. That’s why Corporé has a specific rehabilitation service dedicated to embracing and supporting individuals when the worst occurs.

Catastrophic events can change the lives of individuals and their families forever. They can have devastating effects on a person’s physical and mental health and they’re impossible to prepare for.

There’s no simple or quick fix to the impact a catastrophic event can have on a person. Dedicated and comprehensive rehabilitation is required to support an injured party’s psychological and physical health in a timely manner with the most appropriate treatment provided by clinical experts.

With Corporé’s Major Incident Rehabilitation Service (MIRS), this constant support is provided for injured parties, their families and witnesses of catastrophic events from referral throughout the rehabilitation process.

MIRS is a fast response service, reacting quickly by providing immediate physical and psychological support following major incidents.

All-Embracing Expertise

This dedicated, fast-acting support is provided by a team of clinically experienced and person-centred Catastrophic Injury Rehabilitation Case Managers. Using clinical best practices such as NHS and NICE guidelines and by drawing from their own knowledge and experience, whilst maintaining strong clinical quality with regular audits, feedback and training through our Clinical Governance scheme, our MIRS team are able to provide proficient, high-quality support to our clients.

As one of the UK’s leading providers of rehabilitation case management services and with our extensive experience supporting individuals following catastrophic incidents, such as the Croydon tram crash or the devastating Grenfell Tower Fire in London, Corporé’s MIRS team can assist a variety of cases.

Embrace the Responsive MIRS Approach

At the beginning of every MIRS referral, an Immediate Needs Assessment (INA) is conducted, typically virtually, by one of our specially trained Rehabilitation Case Managers to determine the extent of injuries of all individuals involved in the catastrophic event. This fast responding, accessible approach enables them to determine the type of physical and psychological treatment required as quickly as possible and create bespoke rehabilitation plans that provide achievable progression goals whilst taking into account individual barriers to recovery.

With dedicated and constant communication with the injured party, their family and instructing insurer and claimant lawyer throughout the process, these goals can be amended at any time to mirror progression and identify additional psychological or physical concerns, providing continuous support following a life-changing event.

Early intervention is just one of the features of our embracing Major Incident Rehabilitation Service.

Embrace our Distinctive MIRS Features

MIRS Helpline

With a dedicated crisis management telephone hotline, we can communicate with our instructing parties and our clients swiftly and directly. This way, we’re able to discover and respond to new catastrophic cases quicker; or provide support, education or treatment to affected individuals over the phone when it’s needed most.

Treatment Access

Once the extent of injuries and the support required for each affected individual has been confirmed following the INA, our team then seek the most appropriate treatment, either within the NHS, or through private services via our sister company, The Treatment Network.

Not only do we seek necessary support, but we also liaise with the GP’s of each affected individual, determining any medical history or prescription needs and taking them into account when providing additional treatment for catastrophic injuries.

Counselling Services

Psychological support is imperative to optimum overall recovery following a catastrophic event. Following a period of ‘watchful waiting’, in line with NHS and NICE guidelines, our team will organise for injured parties, their families and friends and any witnesses of the devastating event to take part in counselling, helping them to manage and cope with their unforeseen catastrophic experience by providing additional necessary support.

MIRS At Work

The least expected can also happen at work. When catastrophic events occur in the workplace, Occupational Health and Vocational support is required to educate, manage and encourage successful optimum return to work for all employees.

We embrace workplace assistance with both on-site and virtual support, allowing employees and their line managers to speak directly with our clinicians to create achievable and successful return to work plans that suit the needs of the company and the injured person.

Our counselling service is also provided for major incidents at work, allowing all colleagues the opportunity to receive expert support if they were affected by the catastrophic event.

Translation Services

Corporé believes in providing supportive and accessible rehabilitation for all. This means that we need to be prepared to help individuals when English is not their mother tongue. Therefore, we have access to a fast-response translation service that provides both telephone or face-to-face interactions to enable us to support all individuals involved in a catastrophic event.

In addition to the range of languages our translators can understand, they’re also highly experienced in translating medical terminology so that our clients are able to comprehend every step of the rehabilitation process to achieve the best possible progression in their case, keeping in line with HCPC Standards regarding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Embracing Independence and Individuality

Sadly, catastrophic events can occur at any time. But our Major Incident Rehabilitation Service is ready to embrace and support those involved in these events by providing fast responding, clinically sound, bespoke rehabilitation to empower lives once more and achieve the best possible outcomes in times of adversity.
